Trailhead’s Nasi Goreng Recipe
Dec 1st, 2008 by Sarah
My friend Trailhead came up with this recipe this weekend and had posted it up – so to share with you all, here is her recipe.
Bringing water to a boil over a White Box Stove:
Doing a little experimenting via FBC hybrid cooking, and came up with:
Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice)
In a quart freezer bag:
1 cup instant rice
1/2 tsp dried powdered ginger
1/2 tsp dried garlic powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
2 packages soy sauce
1 packet ketchup
1 generous pinch of diced dried onions
2 Tbsp diced dried carrots
1 packet or 1 Tbsp olive oil
Bring 1 cup water to a near boil, add to the freezer bag, stir well, seal tightly and place in a cozy for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in the pan over the stove, add cooked rice mixture, soy sauce and ketchup. Stir fry until ingredients are blended, about 2 or 3 minutes. You may need to raise your pot to avoid burning – keep an eye on it!
Rice in cozy:
Pan frying the rice and ready to eat:
There are as many recipes for nasi goreng as there are cooks, so add anything you want to the dish, because when you’re in the kitchen, you’re the boss!
-Thank you to Trailhead for an awesome idea!
