Food Find: Odwalla Bars

Odwalla Bars are one of the few “energy bars” to pass the braces test. Soft, easy to chew and not sticky makes them a great treat for those with dental work going on! The bars are often found in the produce department of grocery stores (though also in the bar aisle as well).


I recently tried a Berries GoMega™ bar and found the flavor very fresh tasting, as well the bar is full of whole (and soft) dried berries. Taste wise the bar is middle of the road sweet without tasting overly ‘natural’. The berries add a lot to the bar.

The only turn off for some might be the flax seed – flax has a tendency to hang around in your teeth and rehydrate. A good reason to have some extra water with your bar! (And one should with any energy bar – it will help with the digesting of it.)

The Berries bar is 2.2 ounces weight and come in at 220 calories, 4.5 grams fat, 230 mg sodium, 5 grams fiber and 5 grams protein. Not bad for a quick snack on the trail. It would be a welcome choice for a second breakfast at around 10 am on the trail.

Whether or not the added 1000 mg of vegetarian Omega-3’s will do me any good, I haven’t a clue 😉
