TrailsFest 2009: Get Out And Play!

TrailsFest 2009: Get Outside and Play!

If you love the great outdoors, you’ll love TrailsFest! TrailsFest takes place at Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area in North Bend, Washington on Saturday, July 18. Stop by anytime from 10 am – 4 pm. Look for our booth as well – be sure to come say hi to Catzia and I. Bring your questions and come enjoy the sun!

This outdoor recreation festival features clinics on everything from wilderness first aid to hiking with kids to backcountry cooking (yours truly, back for our third year!). Take a guided hike, tie a fly on, look for birds, paddle a kayak or climb a rock wall. Visit dozens of exhibitors, including gear companies and environmental groups. It’s all at TrailsFest!

Looking for new places to explore in the Central Cascades?  Attend a presentation by Craig Romano, author of Day Hiking – Central  Cascades, featuring the best hikes in the Entiat and more. Need a new recipe for dinner at camp? The author of Freezer Bag Cooking will teach you how to make gourmet backcountry meals on a budget. Have a dog? Learn how to treat common canine injuries at a clinic presented at the REI Outdoor Classroom.  Heading above timberline? Check out the Hilleberg Alpine Skills Camp for short skill-building sessions.

TrailsFest is presented every summer by Washington Trails Association.  Sponsors for TrailsFest 2009 include REI, Hilleberg the Tentmaker, Green Trails Maps, The Alpine Experience, Boeing, Carter Subaru, Sierra Designs, Helly Hansen, Outdoor Research, Gregory, and Nature’s Path.

TrailsFest is your passport to the great outdoors this summer and admission is free!

To get to TrailsFest, take I-90 to exit 32, then turn right on 436th Ave SE .  Follow this road 2.7 miles to Rattlesnake Lake .

PS: Every year during our trail cooking presentation we donate a copy of our book, Freezer Bag Cooking, that is then raffled to an attendee. This year the great folks at Packit Gourmet have generously donated a gift certificate to tuck into the lucky winners book!

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
