If there is one thing great about running a ‘cottage gear’ industry is being able to go off on a whim and create a new item in a matter of hours, days or weeks. A month or so ago I was out having lattes with Catzia and talking shop. We were lamenting over how we had to discontinue the UL FBC Cozy (fabric no longer was made) and how we wanted a smaller cozy for the solo hiker or those with smaller appetites. Our original Quart Cozy is a roomy cozy, able to pack plenty in but not everyone needs one that big. (See here about that)
As we chatted an idea popped into my head of a smaller, less fancy cozy. The Minimalist Cozy. Just the bare bones but still everything a hiker needs. Perfect for the 3 season backpacker the cozy can fit a pint or quart freezer bag or smaller commercial meals, such as Pro Paks and Mary Janes.
After a couple prototypes I had what I wanted for the final product and got them into production.
The cozies are 7 1/2″ long and 8″ wide. Weight is 1 to 1.2 ounces each (depending on fabric). The temperature ratings are the same as the standard cozy during testings.
All 4 colors are in stock and ready to ship. To see more, check them out in Trail Cooking’s store!
