Last year I had mentioned how I found Jalapenos on the grocery store shelf.

Last week when I was doing a spring cleaning and tidying up I realized that my peppers from an online source had sadly seen better days, so today I grabbed a jar while I was out running errands. If you watch sales you can get these for a great bargain. The local Safeway has been running a 50% off sale on McCormick’s Gourmet line. That made the jar a bargain at around $2!
And as noted before, this is a jar I will actually use up in a year, even if I make a ton of DIY Salsa!

I like Texas Gunpowder, dried ground jalapenos. I guess it went out of production for a while — mine is from before and is in a nice light plastic shaker.
It is great for a group where people disagree about how spicy food should be or for putting some kick into store-bought trail meals.
