Love olives? Would you love them in an easy to use shelf stable packaging with no extra liquid in the package? I came across these small 2.6 – 3.2 ounce packets by Gaea at Cost Plus World Market recently and picked them up. The packaging is heavy duty/yet light mylar style that has a close able flap on top. The olives are grown in Greece/exported.
Briny, salty and vinegary Kalamata olives:
The taste is peppery and will have you thinking a deep wine. The olives are a pretty burgundy color overall, with 21 olives in our bag. You will need to pit them, that can be done easily with a finger nail while walking. Chopped up the olives would be awesome served with cheese and crackers at lunch time.
Deep black and softer than a dried prune, the pit slides right out. The olives fall apart on your tongue. Intensely flavored from being naturally dried, these little olives will either be loved or have your hiking partners wondering how you can eat them 😉 They would be amazing tossed with hot pasta, olive oil, red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese!
