You might be thinking “why would I carry that KIND of weight??”. Well if you love avocados you should consider it! Years ago my friend Tori showed me why they were worth carrying and it became a staple to pack, 1 in my cooking pot, nestled in paper towels. Sure I had to pack out the peels and pits but for taste and nutrition it was worth every ounce. Our bodies crave fat when hiking and avocados provide some of the best you can consume. Having said that, having a tasty guacamole is also nice. And easy. Simply cut in half two ripe avocados, pop the pit out with a spoon and run the spoon under to remove the flesh. Add the 4 halves to a new freezer bag, seal and knead gently to mash up, then add the mix and stir.
Have it with a burrito. Heck, fill the tortilla with it! Spread it on rice or couscous, toss cooked pasta with it and a sprinkle of Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Eat it right out of the bag with a spoon. What I can say is if you love guacamole you will be all over this! Leftovers? Not likely. You will enjoy your snack/meal and wonder why you deprived yourself before….
Add in that it has no preservatives or questionable ingredients and you have a winner of a product. I found it hanging in the fresh produce section of my local Safeway grocery store.
