A tasty food find that might fill the void in what was once a favorite candy…peanut butter cups. After taking the family onto the minimally processed way of life these past months, when Halloween rolled around I over-indulged in the certain “orange” packages of those cups. It was at first an awesome roller coaster ride of indulgence – fat, sugar, cheap chocolate. Then it hit me. They had no flavor outside of sugar and fat. Once you quit eating cheap candy on a regular basis it doesn’t taste so good. Don’t get me wrong. I love candy. Always did. It is just now if I have it I try to make it count. I want real chocolate! Real fillings! Flavor! No preservatives. No PGPR (yes, kids…this is how cheap chocolate is made). Go all the way and enjoy the calories!

Organic, gluten-free, nut-free? Yes! Sun Cups come in 4 flavors, we opted to try out the Dark Chocolate-Sunflower Butter Cups. Instead of a soft (kind of creepy really) and mushy treat, the chocolate is snappy, with a dark taste (a good thing). The sunflower butter is deeply roasted, reminding me of my favorite jars of SF butter. Fresh, delicious. To break in half I needed a knife. No nasty limp chocolate here.
From the looks of it the company has a new packaging, with a cheery new look –
Find in natural food stores or check out the company’s website where a nifty sample pack can be ordered for $2.99, shipping included, and includes all 4 flavors. I’ll let everyone know how the sampler is once we get ours! I am looking forward to trying the mint and caramel ones.
