New Gear for The Rain

Last weekend Kirk and I popped into Peak 6, a small gear and gift shop, that resides on the way into the Hoh Rain Forest, in the Olympic Peninsula. I realized I hadn’t been by in years and since the toddler was passed out in the back seat…we might as well drop in.

30 minutes later and many dollars poorer, we made our escape, loaded down with new gear, discounted 2012 items. If you are in the area, do stop. It is a nice place and always fun to poke through. And hey, it also has a warm fireplace 😉 So what did we find?

For me, a Mountain Hardwear Downpour™ hat. For $12. I kid not!

For Kirk, he got two new items. First was a Mountain Hardwear Downpour™ wide brim hat – for $17.

And a matching pair of Mountain Hardwear Ascent gaiters, also for $17. He has a hard time finding hats for his head size and gaiters for his calves, so that he found well-fitting and on sale? Bonus. Just saying..if you ever happen to be out hiking that way, stop in!

  1. Those MH Downpour wide brim hats are the best. I too have a hard time finding the right size for my (apparently) large head. But these wide-brims always fit great AND provide excellent protection from the sun. Win-win!
