While couscous can be a “love it or hate it” ingredient, it is perfect for backpacking meals. It is nearly instant, precooked and can be prepped with just cold water if you prefer. Being that it is simply a small pasta, it is important to “dress it” up – often those with a negative view of it had it served plain – and we all know plain unsalted pasta is pretty bland! I am partial to Bob’s Red Mill Couscous Golden as my favorite brand.
