Fall Coming to NW Trek

The weather forecast said rain all day, so we had decided to not head to the mountains to hike. Instead, we took the boys to NW Trek, which is a PNW institute, part zoo, part wildlands, part park.

In the end we had perfect weather. It was lightly cloudy, with sun out, around 70*. That really nice kind of late summer, fall is nearly here day. We took the boys to see all the animals first (which is paved pathways, but set in a wood setting).

After that, we finally got back to exploring a tiny bit of the trails in the back. It isn’t just the zoo, there are actually nearly 5 miles of walking and hiking paths/trails in the park.20150920_143323

The key is following the wooden posts with colored shapes in them and you won’t get lost….

I plan on heading back with the boys and doing the bigger loop! It is walking and jogger stroller friendly (and unpaved).

A fun way to extend a visit, it was the best of both worlds: a kid outing and a family hike 🙂
