Running away to the mountains is almost always a good idea, especially if it is a gorgeous blue-sky fall Sunday. Kirk and I took Walker and Alistaire to Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park, to catch the fall colors.
So much color. The orange, yellow and oh those reds!
Some people like spring and summer flowers…and yes, they are pretty, but nothing to me is better than crisp fall days. No bugs and so much color!
The terminal moraine of the Nisqually Glacier. It has been a very hard year on the glaciers. The terminus is the dark cave in the middle of the photo. The Paradise side of the mountain is often so very dry by this time of year, but this year especially the mountain is bare.
Love this glacial erratic every time I see it. I often wonder if I sat in it as a child?
We decided as we left Paradise to take the “loop” home and drove out past Reflection Lakes – which the fall colors were simply amazing!
