Carbs are the reward for hiking for many, but sometimes you crave protein. A lot of it. While a steak might sound good, if you are many miles in, go for pouched or canned meat (freeze-dried works well also, however….pouched has a better texture in these). If you are zero into carbs, lose the tortillas/bread/etc called and eat it straight. You won’t miss it! Bonus? These high protein backpacking recipes are all no-cook as well.
