Chia and Fruit Bars

Chia and fruit bars appeared to be the hot new thing at a recent event I was at. Maybe because you can only go so far with fruit and nut bars? Who knows. It’s interesting to watch chia seeds go back and forth with being hip.

Pressed by Kind

This bar contains pineapple, apple, coconut, and chia seeds. It is a firmer bar, due to the coconut and the chia seems more ground into it. It is however made in a facility that processes peanuts and tree nuts. There is 6 flavors of these bars, some which contain vegetables as well. Made in the USA of domestic and imported ingredients. 130 calories, 3.5 grams fat, 3 grams fiber, 16 grams sugar.

Apple puree, apple concentrate, apricot concentrate and chia seeds. The chia seeds are whole in this bar, and have a crunch to it. Like how fig bars have a crunch. It is also sweeter in taste. The ingredients used are USA grown and made. 155 calories, 1.5 gram fat, 6 grams fiber and 24 grams sugar.

Thoughts –

Both bars were good, and neither were excessively sweet in taste. The coconut in the Kind bar does dry out the bar a bit and lessen the sweetness. But both are equally good. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional energy bars, these can be a great alternative.

  1. Home made bars are still my favorite.
You control the ingredients, the flavors, and they are the freshest you can get.
