A New Take On Alpine Aire Food
In what doesn’t seem like so long ago, freeze-dried food companies hadn’t changed in years. Decades even. The same meals we were buying in 2009 had been there 10 years, 20 years before. But change has happened. And it has been nearly 100% positive, this change, in the food industry. Flavors and textures have changed, and grown up. It’s food a lot closer to what many of us eat at home now – not just slop in a bag. (Well, they do still have some of the old chestnuts still, if you love them!)
I had a chance the past weeks to try out a few new ones:
Spicy Cheddar Beans: They are spicy! If you love heat (which we do), you will love them. They don’t taste like any other dried/instant bean I have had before. Makes a perfect burrito.
Spicy Southwest Hummus. The one we haven’t had yet, but soon!
Classic Guacamole. It’s spicy, and it has flavor!
I had to say I was hesitant at first, but it is good. And it comes back tasting like it’s relatively fresh.
Mango Fire Trail Mix. I wrote about this trail mix awhile back on the blog – it’s a good one. Not too sweet, it’s got just enough heat to satisfy.
