Cooler weather will be here before we know it (OK, maybe not cool cool for some of you…but up here in the PNW the mornings are already chilly). That means taking the time for a warm breakfast while the sun rises and we have a trio of great choices if you want to grab a meal and not do any packing or thinking. Backpacking breakfast choices can be harder to dream up, and sometimes it is worth it to buy ready to go meals.

I love that this breakfast is a hot one, it reminds one of oatmeal, yet it isn’t (it is buckwheat!). Stuffed with dried blueberries and hemp seeds, it packs a huge punch of calories in the small pouch (nearly 500 calories!) and it is gluten-free and vegan friendly.

It had so much filling it made 4 generously filled soft tacos, using the street taco size tortillas (or fajita size). This is a meal for sticking to your ribs. The boys really loved it and nothing was left over. Pack your own salsa!
