Meal Review: Creamy Italian Polenta With Sausage
I tried out Packit Gourmet’s Creamy Italian Polenta With Sausage (I choose the TVP Sausage option to make it vegetarian).
Everything I needed to whip it up – I used my GSI Soloist pot set to make it.
I brought 2 1/4 cups water to a boil. Once it came to a boil, I lowered my stove to medium flame and added in the dry ingredients, stirring immediately. I then dropped the heat to as low as my stove can go and stirred rapidly till the polenta started to thicken.
Polenta (and corn mush) can be tricky in some ways to cook – you need to make sure you don’t get hit by the cornmeal – it tends to spurt as it cooks. In this case I kept my Soloist off the stove by an inch or so to keep the heat low, while stirring.
Though the package says to cook for 3 minutes, I pulled it after 1 1/2 minutes or so as it was nicely thick. I then let it sit for a couple minutes to finish cooking.
Added in the enclosed Parmesan cheese and had lunch!
A very easy meal indeed – one pot style and doesn’t need a lot of water. The TVP sausage is great tasting as well. Nice mild spicy hint underneath and very creamy.
Well worth taking a test on!
